Welcome to SeaGlass Cottage in East Boothbay! Sitting right by the edge of Linekin Bay, at SeaGlass you will be surrounded by stunning beauty and immersed in nature. It is not unusual to see seals, osprey and eagles. You are so close to the water, it feels like being on a boat, and the western exposure provides you with absolutely breathtaking sunsets. There is a great 200' long deep-water dock with a large sundeck and sitting area that has a swim ladder, and can accommodate anything from a kayak to a 28 foot boat. At low tide there is a large private rocky oceanfront area (this area is underwater at high tide so please don't think white sandy beach), that is great for beach combing, digging for clams or catching crabs. Bring your water shoes! The cottage itself loaded with charm and filled with nooks and crannies. It features an open floor plan with high pitched exposed beam ceilings, and is covered in wainscotting. SeaGlass was professionally decorated and features high quality linens, including down bedding and soft towels. There is also fast high speed internet, WIFI and a 32' HD TV. The main bedroom, on the second floor, is open to the first floor and is accessed by a small spiral staircase. It has beautiful pumpkin pine floors, a high pitched ceiling and great water views. The second bedroom is accessed by a ladder and is a small sleeping loft. It has a queen bed and two small dressers. There is also a screened-in porch which provides another cozy spot to read a book or surf the web. We accept boats up to 28' at the dock. The water is approximately 4' deep at the very lowest low tide and about 5' at a typical low tide. There is trailer parking for a small fee ($25-$50 weekly) near the boat launch which is about 1 mile from the cottage. This location provides an incredibly peaceful retreat to get away from it all and relax, surrounded by some of the most beautiful views anywhere. But, if you are looking for more action, it is only 4 miles to Boothbay Harbor, which is home to many fine dining and casual restaurants, shops and galleries. It is only 3 miles to the popular Ocean Point where you can relax on the rocks and take in the breathtaking views. One of the areas most scenic hiking trails, The Linekin Preserve, is only 2/10ths of a mile away. Also nearby is the Boothbay Country Club, the Maine Botanical Gardens, and numerous boat excursions including whale watches, schooners tours and trips to Monhegan Island and Ram Island Light House. It is also a great home base for daytrips, with much of the mid-coast's favorite attractions within an hour's drive. *Access - There is a walk of about 75 yards down a grassy hill. We have hand carts to assist with luggage and supplies. The cottage is not suitable for those with limited mobility. *Both bedrooms are open lofts. The master is accessed by a spiral staircase. The second bedroom is a sleeping loft accessed by a ladder. The shower has a low ceiling and may be uncomfortable for those over 6'3" tall. The setting may be inappropriate for young children, due to some steep drop offs.

House (3000 sq. ft.) in South Bristol, ME
0 miles from Boothbay Harbor
Clifford House is situated on Clifford's Cove, a beautiful setting 1/4 mile from open ocean. The property is a five bedroom Victorian-period sea captain's house on 3 1/2 acres on Rutherford Island, South Bristol, Maine. The Island is connected to the mainland by a small bridge in the picturesque fishing village of South Bristol. The main house has 3 bedrooms and one bath. The in-law apartment has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. A short hallway connects them. They each have living rooms and kitchens. The main house has a screened porch. One bedroom and bath are on the ground floor with no stairs. The main house and in-law are always rented together. The house is surrounded by gardens, yards, fields of wild flowers, and woods. It is on a small country road that sees more walkers, joggers, and bicyclers than cars. A long stand of tall trees along the road provide privacy for the house and grounds. From the grounds you see no other buildings except for the caretaker’s cottage. Clifford’s Cove is home to a small friendly summer colony of which Clifford House is by far the largest property available to rent. The property extends from a scenic country road to the water. The house is close enough to the water so that you can watch the fishing boats but far enough that they don’t wake you when they start working in the morning. Clifford House is perfectly situated for a family vacation. It is private but not isolated. It is great for weddings and family reunions or for two families vacationing together. High-speed internet is included. We don’t charge a cleaning fee. Boating: Boat and kayak rentals are available nearby. Mooring rental in our cove can be arranged. Our availability calendar is always up-to-date, and we always respond to inquiries promptly. This site may tell you differently because it isn’t savvy about seasonal rentals. For more information, you can look us up as Maine Clifford House or Clifford House Maine.

CLEARVIEW COTTAGE is designed to take full advantage of the spectacular westerly views of open ocean and Fisherman's Island. Clearview is located just an easy walk along the Shore Road to Grimes Cove Beach for swimming, sunning on the large rocks or just enjoy walking along the ocean. Bring your kayak and launch either from the beach's boat ramp or over near the Ocean Point Inn from the shared Dock/Float.  It is a lovely walk along the shore to the Ocean Point Inn for dinner.  The sunsets are really beautiful and different every night.  The stars shine bright in the night sky on Ocean Point on a clear night.  The morning fog helps keep the plants green and lovely.  You will often find Ocean Point, Maine at the top of the list for "The Most Scenic Place in Maine".  A visit to the East Boothbay General Store will provide their famous breakfast pizzas or pastries.  We particularly love the Blueberry Gorgonzola pizza they make.  Just a short ride will put you in Boothbay Harbor with its many shops, restaurants and boat trips.  The view includes boats: big boats, little boats, motor boats, sail boats, leisure boats and working boats, and during Windjammer Days (a local celebration and tradition) you will have one of the best views of the schooners as they enter Boothbay Harbor under full sail. There are the birds; osprey, cormorants, eider ducks, terns and all manner of migratory and year round aquatic and shore birds. Plus the dolphins and seals that come in close and the whales that pass by farther out. The sunsets are particularly fantastic and if you are lucky enough to be here on the full moon, you will be able to enjoy that magical moonlight's reflection playing on the surface of the ocean.  Bring your camera and bring your binoculars –you won’t want to miss a minute! THE HOUSE Ocean Point is all about the ocean.  This professionally managed cottage, while sitting back from the waterfront, offers great ocean views from its Master Suite (3rd Floor) which boasts a bay window with a window seat for curling up and enjoying the view while reading.  Second Floor, with its open concept Living/Dining/Kitchen with half bath and laundry area, also has an enclosed porch with lots of comfortable furnishings for relaxing as well as a dining set for eating outside to enjoy the views and cool ocean breezes.  The main floor has three bedrooms and a full bath with easy access to the yard.  with bedrooms on the first floor, the main living areas on the second floor and the master bedroom suite on the third floor.  Clearview was built to take advantage of the ocean views.  This cottage was built with the main living area on the second floor and the master bedroom suite on the third floor. SPECIAL: WEEK AUGUST 24 to AUGUST 31, 2018   10% Off Rental Rate Off-Season Arrival and Departure Dates may be Flexible. Due to allergies, this is a non-pet-friendly home with no exceptions.     Merwick Cottage is perched atop a rise overlooking the Sheepscot Bay.  Enjoy panoramic views and ocean breezes from the deck and its generously windowed interior.  Look for the Osprey nest on the channel marker in front of Merwick Cottage, close enough to watch the nestlings grow up over the summer.  Much like Merwick's owners, the Osprey's keep coming back - just like we hope you will!  You will love how the rich history of the Five Islands section of Georgetown blends with the contemporary style of Merwick Cottage. When we asked the owners if there was any information they would like to share with future guests, we received these wonderful responses: "My favorite place to walk is Ledgemere Road, just above the Five Islands wharf, running along the Sheepscot Bay for almost a mile. There is a small beach and you can walk out on the granite ledges where the surf crashes.   The woods around are pine, and in the summer Ledgemere Road smells of balsam."    "Sometimes, as we got older, the water from the ponds permitted a longer frolic than the ocean.  Charles Pond, which is within walking distance, is cool and deep.  Sewell Pond, off of Old Stage Road, and a short hike from the road through a nature preserve is a favorite, rope-swinging place to play." "My favorite time of day is dawn, when the sun breaks over the horizon - lavenders, blues, gold's, and scarlet's silhouette the trees, boats, and rocks.  The songbirds' songs echo across the water from the islands.  The full moon on the water is hypnotizing and relaxing.  Sometimes you can get both - a rising sun and a setting moon." "My very favorite thing about Maine and especially Five Islands is the smell of the fresh ocean air mingled with pine and roses.  I suppose I could be a millionaire if I were able to bottle that and sell it.  There is nothing like it in all the world." From Merwick Cottage you have stunning views of the fishing village of Five Islands, the Sheepscot Bay and out to the open ocean. Head on down to your private dock and float with over 200 feet of rocky shore-front to enjoy watching the comings and goings of lobster boats and elegant yachts.  Bring your own boats or rent locally for a spectacular day of exploration along this beautiful stretch of rocky coastline. Fish, swim, float or simply relax. Watch the moon rise over the bay from the cozy living room, glimmering on the surf crashing off Crow Island.  You are within walking distance of the award-winning Five Islands Lobster Co. and, coincidentally, Merwick's kitchen has the needed pots and crackers to serve up a bountiful lobster dinner! There are miles of hiking and biking trails in Georgetown and more on preserved lands throughout the Mid-coast area. Head over to Reid State Park to enjoy over a mile of sandy beaches, into Bath for shopping, souvenirs, and restaurants or explore the many museums and galleries in the area. A week will fly by before you can see all there is to see, so you better book two! PETS PERMITTED? No, pets are not allowed at this property due to owner's severe allergies. LINENS INCLUDED?   Step back in time on this secluded piece of land, water, and sky. Take a nap in the bottom of a canoe as the gentle water rocks you. Watch the sun slip into the Atlantic from the boathouse –you can almost hear it sizzle. Spin on the hand-hewn wooden tree swing like you did when you were a kid, and explore the mud flats at low tide. Maybe you will even find some clams! With three-and-a-half acres of land (most along the rocky coast), there is so much to see, do and experience on this unique and magical property. THE HOUSE: While many modern conveniences have been added, the cozy, homey atmosphere of this cottage remain much the same as when it was built in 1832. Nestled beneath indigenous trees, the warm and inviting ambiance reflects the waterfront area, and the large, well-kept lawns are great places for both playing and relaxing. The First Floor includes the kitchen, butler pantry, dining room and family room, as well as a ¾ Bathroom with a soaking tub, and one bedroom with one Double Bed. Period pieces and antiques abound in every room. The Second Floor has one bedroom with Two Twin Beds as well as a King Bed, one bedroom with two Twin Beds, and the fourth bedroom has One Queen Bed. A ¾ bathroom with shower completes the second floor of this Sawyer's Island gem. NOTE: This house was built in the 1830's when staircases were steep and narrow and there was no such thing as indoor plumbing. Fortunately, the outhouse was replaced with indoor plumbing, but the staircase is original. Please let us know if mobility is an issue for anyone in your party so we can make sure we connect you with the right cottage for your perfect Maine vacation. BEDROOMS: (1) Double, (1) King with (2) Twins, (1) Queen, (2) Twins. At Captain Kent's, guests will experience camp the way summer folk in this area have been for generations. The large, expansive yard dips right down to a tidal inlet (the property is on a spit of land with salt water on three sides). Nicely protected, the inlet provides a bounty of wildlife. You can kayak, sail, swim, bird watch, canoe, fish or simply float all in this idyllic and secluded setting. The mudflats warm up during low tide, making swimming warmer than usual when the tide comes back in. At the water’s edge, you will find the boathouse, a two-story building with barn-style doors facing out to the dock and float. The boathouse is like having another living room! Though quite rustic, this space is an absolute favorite of all ages as THE place to hang out. Equipped with outdoor furniture, it has served the family as an extended patio, family room, alfresco style dining, lanai, nap room, kids play area and just about anything else you could think of. You can close the barn doors in inclement weather or watch the storm come in over the river. From the boathouse you can see and boat over to Indiantown Island; Marilee Ellis, one of Captain Kent’s descendants found an Indian Chief skeleton in the pigeon mounds, which remains on display at the Harvard University Museum of Natural History. Boat on over and participate in your own scavenger hunt! The private dock and float at Captain Kent's are the perfect spot to launch boats, enjoy cocktails, watch the moon rise or simply let the lazy days slip by. The Boothbay Peninsula is a beautiful region rich in culture, history, all things nautical and of course its own unique niche in nature. The area offers ample opportunities for biking, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, charters and guided cruises, spas, golf, mini-golf, bowling, museums, antiquing, hiking and walking trails. We have the Maine State Aquarium, the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and the Boothbay Region Land Trust with its 30+ miles of pet-friendly trails in protected areas.  Sawyers’ Island is approximately 175 acres and is connected to Hodgdon’s Island and to the Boothbay mainland by bridges. It floats comfortably in the Sheepscot River enjoying views of Barter’s Island, Porter Island and Indiantown Island. Stunning views, quiet, protected inlets and peaceful island attitudes are the signature finds of Sawyer’s Island. Though equipped with cell and satellite service, many visitors and inhabitants alike enjoy the slower pace and the ‘step-back-in-time’ feel that washes over you as you cross the hand-crank bridge. Ferry service to the Isle of Springs is available from the town landing. A canoe or kayak can get you to Indiantown Island and the Boothbay Region Land Trust preserve there. The land trust has scavenger hunts that are fun for all ages. Be sure to stop by the Trevett Country Store for some of the best lobster rolls in the Mid-coast on your way to explore Porter Island. And of course, no trip to this side of Boothbay would be complete without exploring the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens on Barter’s Island.
